Fire and foremost, I'm on sabbatical until Mid-2018 at the earliest! I need some time to work on some of my own projects. Feel free to contact me before then, but I can't accept any book jobs just yet. I am, however, still accepting new 100 for 100 jobs!
My name is Joe, I'm an active zinester and DIY publisher. Over the past few years, I've spent much of my time improving my printing abilities and learning more ways to format, bind, and produce small runs of handmade books, chapbooks, and zines.
Professional Print-on-Demand sites have this amazing ability to make books look impersonal and ugly, even when you're the one deciding how the book should look. I, however, am a human, and am well versed in paper products and qualities, know some freehand thread binding, and have spent the past few years working professionally as a book designer.
So, have you got a few poems you'd like put together in a book? A short story you always thought was strong enough to stand on its own? An essay about political change that makes you want to feel like Thomas Paine once did? If so, I can help. I've now designed, formatted, printed, bound, cut, and shipped books for over 60 clients, from new writers working on a college thesis to bands taking a new project on tour to established authors who've worked with Penguin and Random House.
Most books I make fall somewhere between $2.50 and $6 per book, and my design fee is included in the price of each book. I'm extremely transparent about costs, so if there's something you'd like to know, feel free to ask. Due to an overloaded schedule, I normally ask for a minimum budget of $250 per project, but don't be afraid to ask if you can't commit that all at once - we can work something out! Projects take anywhere between 2 and 12 weeks, depending on how long we talk and how pressing your deadline is.
Head to the Shop or Gallery pages to check out some of my work. If you're ready to make your book, please fill out the form below!
