Kenny Vs. The Dark Web Comic + Tape Early Bird Bundle

18.00

Hot off the presses is the 2nd printing of Kenny Vs. the Dark Web Prologue Comic - Red Glitch Edition, printed with a variance of red covers, limited to 125 copies. This bundle includes the new printing of the comic AND the soundtrack cassette, at a special early bird price.

Kenny vs. The Dark Web is the prologue to an upcoming full-length graphic novel written by Chicago rapper Serengeti (David Cohn) and illustrated by Owen Cornish

"Kenny vs. The Dark Web is a story about Kenny Dennis, ex-rapper and ex-phonebooth repairman who has lived a safe, predictable life in Chicago for the last twenty years with his brother, Tanya, and his wife, Jueles.

He is a simple man with simple pleasures: bowling, softball, ping pong, and O'Douls. Kenny’s comfortable routine is shaken one night when he accidentally stumbles onto the dark web & discovers a horrific video..."

Printed by Joe Carlough at Displaced Snail Publications, each comic cover is printed using an ink-rich, color-glitch method I devised on high quality 45lb. matte paper, and the inner pages are printed on a recycled 24-32lb. stock that reduces bleedthrough and features an excellent texture. The comics are stapled with white staples so as to not distract from the cover art. They are printed, hand assembled, and hand cut, one at a time, in my home studio. Because of the method of production, no two comics will be exactly the same.

Man, you’re thinking, if only there was music to go along with this release. Well good news, there is! Get yr copy of the Kenny Vs. The Dark Web Soundtrack today on cassette through a special collaboration with This & That Tapes (which I also run).

Tapes are mastered in my home studio and duped by hand using a Tascam deck and a few stereo Recordex machines. Labels and j-cards are printed in-house, and the tapes will come in a soft poly case, attractive and protective, but much less prone to shattering than the hard plastic cases.

This collection of music is only available on physical formats, and can’t yet be heard online. As such, the tape does NOT come with a digital download. If you want this soundtrack, time to bust out the old cassette deck! (Also available on vinyl from Geti’s shop)

Oh yeah, and as if it couldn’t get any better, the comic comes with a download of the song Get It While the Gettin’ Is Good, available for free here.

  • Note: This is a preorder, comics + bundles will begin shipping on April 28th.
